    Main objective 


    Strengthen the capacities of local and international organizations so that they can design, implement and evaluate effective, sustainable projects that are adapted to the realities of the territories. 


    Mission


    We support public, private, and international organizations in promoting sustainable development, good governance, and strengthening the capacities of actors in the South, while supporting the initiatives of partners in the North.

    Dr. Jean-Elysée Mbonankira

    General Director


    Founder and partner, BEDD Ltd –General Director

    Dr. Jean-Elysée Mbonankira is an international researcher and consultant specializing in Agriculture and Agribusiness.

    Holding a PhD in Agricultural Sciences and Biological Engineering from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), he has over 20 years of experience in international consulting, agricultural research, and university teaching.

    Dr. Jean-Elysée Mbonankira has over two decades of experience in management, planning, organization, and implementation of applied agronomic research projects in the field of plant production, specifically in plant breeding, crop biodiversity, and phytotechnical improvement in the Great Lakes region of Africa. He conducts studies for research centers, universities, NGOs, government agencies, and agri-food companies.

    As an international consultant, Dr. Jean-Elysée Mbonankira has carried out several technical assistance missions within projects & programs funded by United Nations agencies (FAO, WFP, and UNDP), international financial institutions (World Bank and IMF), national development agencies (USAID, AFD, CTB, etc.) as well as foreign governments often through bilateral or multilateral programs. His consulting work relates to the identification; design and formulation of projects & programs; the implementation of projects & programs; the monitoring and evaluation of projects & programs; the development of value chains and agricultural entrepreneurship; the training and capacity building of producers; the support of actors in the agro-industrial sector; the management of grants from various donors; strategic analysis and policy formulation.

    Dr. Jean-Elysée Mbonankira also provides advice to farmers and agri-food businesses regarding compliance and export certification.

    Dr. Yves Ndayikunda

    Director of Partnerships and Education


    Dr. Yves Ndayikunda is a Burundian academic and researcher, specializing in strategic communication and communication for
    development and a professor in these fields at the Lumière University of
    Bujumbura as well as at Saint Paul University in Canada. He is the president of the Research and Career Development Center (RECADEC East Africa).
      
    Former Rector of the Lumière University of Bujumbura and General Director of the NGO CEPRODILIC-ADEPE, he also holds positions as a Consultant and Advisor in communication and international development for several African and international organizations. His expertise is sought in capacity building initiatives, public diplomacy, and regional cooperation.

    Very active in academic networks in East Africa and internationally, Yves is notably a member of the Inter-University Council for East Africa, where he chairs the committee responsible for finance, planning, and human resources. He is also a member of the East African Communication Association (EACA), the international declaration of professionals and researchers in communication for a healthier, sustainable, and better world (INTERDECOM – Canada), as well as the Academy of Controversies and Sensitive Communication (ACSC – Paris).

    Dr. Réginas Ndayiragije

    Director of Research and Quality Assurance


    Founding Partner, BEDD Ltd – Head of Strategy, Research and Quality Assurance

    Dr. Réginas Ndayiragije has over ten years of experience in the field of development, conflict analysis, and peacebuilding in the Great Lakes region of Africa. He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and specializes in participatory approaches to peacebuilding, interactions between political institutions and development, post-conflict recovery, as well as the design, monitoring, and evaluation of programs.

    Dr. Ndayiragije has managed and advised numerous peacebuilding and governance programs and has collaborated with various international organizations, including the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Global Rights, Impunity Watch, the American Foundation for African Development, and the Centre for Sustainable Development/Maastricht School of Management.

    Within BEDD Ltd, Dr. Ndayiragije is a founding partner and leads the Strategy, Research, and Quality department. He provides factual analyses, strategic guidance, and high-quality analytical support to clients operating in complex and fragile contexts.

    Pontien Bikebako

    Director Africa

    Mr. Bikebako Pontien is Engineer agronomist from the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences at Burundi University. He also has a master's degree in Development Management from Lumière University of Bujumbura. He has also completed several "certifying" training courses while working in various fields related to development management, with the most important concerning the management, monitoring-evaluation and environmental impact analysis of projects in training centers recognized for these fields such as the University of Pittsburgh (USA for management), training center of La Rochelle (France for monitoring-evaluation).

    Interested in Micro finance as a support tool for communities without access to the traditional banking system, he has also taken training courses while working in training centers recognized in the field of micro finance and employment development at the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization, TURIN-Italy, La Rochelle-France and through various training organized by Microfinance African Institutions Network (MAIN) across the African continent.

    Concerned about supporting or assisting vulnerable categories or those with limited resources and with the aim of sharing his accumulated experience over forty years, he is the originator of the establishment of non-profit associations such as the organization of the Community Integration of Orphaned Children (OICEO-founder member) ; of the Network of Microfinance Institutions in Burundi [founder member with 10 years in the steering bodies as- president of the executive committee -equivalent to the board of directors or president - Legal Representative) ; of the Association for Peasant Self-Promotion (O.A.P) of the association for the promotion of the right " APD " and currently legal representative of the Twitezimbere association.

    As professional experience, he has about forty years of experience as a manager in various projects related to agricultural development, social fund management, decentralization and local governance as well as microfinance. Throughout this time he was a manager and in accordance with his responsibilities, he has always organized his schedule to properly fulfill the tasks assigned to him to the satisfaction of the various technical and financial partners both multilateral (World Bank, European Union, International Fund for Agricultural Development and the African Development Bank) and bilateral (Swiss cooperation, Belgian cooperation, Dutch cooperation and the French Development Association) as well as to the complete satisfaction of the bodies that were to evaluate him.

    Moreover, his organizational skills have allowed him to participate in consultancy work assigned to him by various institutions in diverse fields such as support for strategic and/or operational planning with projects of German cooperation specializing in decentralization and local governance. In this area, he has experience not only in Burundi but also in Rwanda, the DRC, and Congo Brazzaville. He has worked individually or with international offices or agencies such as BGR and GIZ (German), the International Center for Development Studies -affiliated with the Catholic University of Lyon and Ginger-SOFRECO (French) and ENABEL (Belgian agency for development).

    His areas of expertise are focused on project management and monitoring evaluation, decentralization and local governance, training and capacity building of diverse actors engaged in these fields.

    To his credit, as a manager he has more than a dozen projects executed under his direction, as a consultant a hundred local planning documents (development of communal community development plans for the municipalities of Burundi, 15 simple management plans for community development series in the forest concessions and village lands in the savanna areas of Congo Brazzaville, a study conducted with MPI (Migration Policy Institute –British on behalf of the World Bank.) and finally within the framework of operational planning and monitoring-evaluation, he has carried out at least a dozens of missions on behalf of GIZ for projects related to decentralization and the fight against poverty, sexual and reproductive health as well as the water sector.
